 When customers leave comments on our website, we collect the data provided in the comments form, as well as the customer’s IP address and browser user agent string to help prevent spam.

Suggested text: Customers are welcome to upload images to our website, but we recommend avoiding images with embedded location data (EXIF GPS) included. Visitors to our website can download and extract any location data from images on the website.

Cookies

When customers leave a comment on our site, they may opt-in to saving their name, email address, and website in cookies. These cookies are for the customer’s convenience so that they do not have to fill in their details again when they leave another comment. These cookies will last for one year.

If customers visit our login page, we will set a temporary cookie to determine if their browser accepts cookies. This cookie contains no personal data and is discarded when the browser is closed.

When customers log in, we will also set up several cookies to save their login information and their screen display choices. How long we retain your data

If customers leave a comment, the comment and its metadata are retained indefinitely. This is so we can recognize and approve any follow-up comments automatically instead of holding them in a moderation queue.

For customers that register on our website (if any), we also store the personal information they provide in their user profile. All customers can see, edit, or delete their personal information at any time (except they cannot change their username). Website administrators can also see and edit that information.

What rights you have over your data

If customers have an account on our site or have left comments, they can request to receive an exported file of the personal data we hold about them, including any data they have provided to us. They can also request that we erase any personal data we hold about them. This does not include any data we are obliged to keep for administrative, legal, or security purposes.

Where your data is sent

We do not send customer data anywhere. However, comments may be checked through an automated spam detection service.
